Zamfara: Mugira Yusuf’s arrest was not politically motivated – Police

The Zamfara Police Chief explained the arrest of a Mugira Yusuf by a commando agent on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

Komando explained that on January 17, 2020, the police commissioner, Mr. Ayuba Elkanah, received a formal complaint for alleged criminal conspiracy and inciting public unrest against Mugira Yusuf and a Ukashatu Abubakar.

According to a press release signed by the state police spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu, during the state CID investigation, one of the suspects, Ukashatu Abubakar, was arrested and charged in court, while Mugira Yusuf fled and has since avoided arrest.

“On Thursday, 21st October 2021, the second suspect, Mugira Yusuf was arrested at Unguwar Dallatu area, Gusau by Police operatives investigating the case. The suspect was charged to court since on Friday 22nd October, 2021.

“In view of the above, members of the public are enjoined to note that, the arrest was not Politically motivated as being reported by some media. The Police as law enforcement agency will continue to discharge its functions in line with constitutional provisions and other professional ethics,” the statement said.

However, the Command has appealed to the general public to assist the police and other security agencies by providing them with vital information that will lead to the arrest of criminal elements in the state.

SP Shehu urges residents of the state to effectively ignore such false information that aims to detoxify the minds of people in the state.
